who will use computers have active FLCC computer accounts. Read About Computer Accounts
for details.
If you have software you
want students to use in any FLCC computer lab, contact me as soon as
possible to arrange for installation.
Faculty can request spreadsheets with their students'
e-mail addresses, which can be imported into Outlook
e-mail distribution
lists. If you would like these lists, send
an e-mail request to Kay Carlisi.
Fall, 2007
- Microsoft Office 2007 will be installed in all computer labs and many classrooms.
- Internet Explorer 7 will be installed in all computer labs and many classrooms.
- AutoCad, Inventor and other Autodesk applications will be updated to version 2007.
- New systems will be placed in all computer labs and many classrooms.
Fall, 2006
- Students can now set up their student e-mail password online from the logon page at axp.flcc.edu.
- AutoCad, Architectural Desktop, and Inventor have been updated to version 2006.
- The new Wayne County Campus center is operational, with 21 computers in the lab (WC 118) and 3 in the Academic Support Center (WC 115).
- Wireless internet access is available at all campuses, including Geneva and Wayne County.
Fall, 2005
- All computers in labs and classrooms have been updated to run Windows XP service pack 2.
- AutoCad, Architectural Desktop, and Inventor have been updated to version 2006.
- The new Geneva site is operational, with 2 computer labs and EMS classrooms.
Fall, 2004
- All computers in labs and classrooms have been updated to run Microsoft
Office 2003.
- AutoCad, Architectural Desktop, and Inventor have been updated to version
2005.
- Macromedia Studio has been updated to version 2004 MX
- Windows patches and antivirus updates have been fully automated in all
computer labs and offices.
If an employee logs on to a computer in a lab or classroom, they must
log off before they leave. If the system is inactive for 90 minutes, it will
now be "locked".
To unlock it, use Ctrl-Alt-Del, then enter your password. If someone else was
using the computer when it was locked, you will need to shut it down (hold
down the power switch until the computer turns off), and then restart
it. Call the Computer Helpdesk at 7419 if you need help. And please remember
to turn
off every computer at the end of the day, including the one in your office.
Spring, 2003
- All lab computers have been updated to run Internet Explorer 6.0
(update from 5.5), Microsoft's .NET framework, updated Acrobat and other
readers, and the most recent Microsoft security patches.
- Lab computers should now be turned on using the power button on
the front of the computer. The computer will automatically turn itself off
properly after you pick "Shut Down" from the Start Menu.
- This new Shutdown/Turnon procedure has been installed on all computers
where the power strip is inaccesible, or has an orange label taped over the
power strip's switch.
- Offices are being converted to this new procedure whenever we
work on the systems.
Fall, 2002
All computer labs and offices have received new Pentium
4 computers with new software loads, to implement the changes shown below.
- Microsoft Office XP has replaced Office 2000
and Office 97
- All offices are now running Windows 2000, with
the same software as in the computer labs.
- Word Perfect Office is being phased out. Everyone
should convert old Word Perfect documents to Microsoft Word as soon as possible.
- The latest service packs for Ms Office XP and
Windows 2000 were installed.
- The new SAM Xp replaced Net-Ready SAM in all
labs used by computer science students and on Computer Science Faculty Office
systems.
- Scriptlogic has been installed to allow all
employees to read their Employee E-mail using Outlook 2002 on any Main Campus
computer. From elsewhere, Employee E-Mail can still be accessed on the Web
at mail.flcc.edu using the Outlook Web Client (OWA).

Fall, 2001
All computer labs have received new software loads,
to implement the changes shown below.
- Computer labs in Geneva and Newark are now connected
to the Internet (in Geneva, only G200 is connected).
- Norton Antivirus has replaced McAfee Viruscan
on all lab systems.
- The latest service packs for Ms Office 2000
and Windows 2000 were installed.
- Microsoft Visio was added in all labs used by
computer science students.
- The new Net-Ready SAM replaced SAM 2000 in all
labs used by computer science students.
- Photoshop Elements replaced Photo Deluxe in
B386.
- Photo Deluxe has been added at the Institute.
- Upgrades to AutoCad (2002), Inventor, and other
Autodesk programs were installed in B366 and B367.
- Computer lab B389 has been converted to a teaching
lab with an instructor station and projector. The systems dual-boot either
Linux or Windows 95, and use a networked laser printer. The available Windows
applications include Ms Office 97, Assembler, and Microsoft C++

Spring, 2001
Chuck Woods has evaluated the adminstrative aspect of various Classroom
Management Information Systems, including Blackboard and WebCT. A
committee to discuss user features and selection of a comprehensive CMIS will
be held on April 3, 2001. The CMIS will support Web content for traditional
classroom courses or complete distance learning courses.
Software in the Art lab (C431) has been upgraded to include Quark Express
and Photoshop 5.5, and these systems are now running Windows 2000.
New projection systems have been purchased for B240, B310,
B304 (temporarily placed in B386), B414 (not yet installed), D351, C228, one
Geneva lab, and Newark.
Fall, 2000
With the upgrade of lab microcomputers now completed, all lab systems
are running Windows 2000 with updated software, including these
following standard packages:
· Microsoft Office 2000 Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Publisher,
Front Page, Photodraw, Photo Editor)
· Corel Word Perfect Suite 2000 (Word Perfect, Quattro Pro, Presentations,
Photo House)
· Internet Explorer 5.5 and Netscape Communicator 4.72
Upgrades to AutoCad and othe CAD packages have been installed in B366 and
B367.
New projection systems have been purchased and installed
in B364, B409, C312, C313, and C428.
