More Gullies

Below are other examples of gullies.  Notice that the apron often lies on top of sand dunes.  Sand dunes are usually not very old.  Anything on top of them would be younger.  This relationship between sand dunes and gully aprons is evidence that the gullies are young.

The crater below is unique in having aprons on top of aprons.  There may have been multiple gully forming events.  The most recent gullies lie atop older ones.  Many multiple ridges are visible of different sizes.  The ridges may have formed by material flowing down slope.  The ligher material may be a mixture of dust and snow.  It seems that smooth material near the top of the image is covering a rougher surface.  The smooth materials may have dropped from the sky as dust coated with frost thus blanketing the under lying surface.
